Caring for Your Tutu

Now that you have your ideal tutu, it's time to talk about how to care for it.  I've listed some tips and tricks to get  your tutu to it's full fluff and looking fantastic. I want you to be able to wear your tutu will confidence and I want you to be able to wear it time and time again.  So if it is wrinkly from being packaged and shipped, or if you wear it out and spill something on it; I've got you covered.

To release wrinkles and re-fluff:
☆ Hold the waistband of the tutu and give the tutu a few strong shakes downward.  Try to reorganize the strands of tulle to the right place.  The shaking will help release them and get the strands to the right spots.

☆ Run your fingers through the tutu just like you run them through your hair.  This will help untangle and straighten the pieces of tulle. You may need to flip your tutu upside down and do this to the underside depending on the way your tutu has been embellished.

☆ Steam is your tutu's best friend.  If you still have some wrinkles and/or desire the pieces of your tutu to be super straight, hang your tutu on a hanger and then in the bathroom while you shower.  The steam from the shower will help relax the tulle, releasing the wrinkles.

☆ If you have a steamer, you can also use that.  As you steam, comb your fingers through the tulle. Be careful not to focus the steamer on the embellishments for more than a second because it could cause the embellishment to fall off.  Use caution to both protect your hands and to protect your tutu!

If your tutu becomes dirty:
☆ Spot clean only!  Use a clean, damp cloth and a mild soap to gently spot clean.  Then pat the wet tulle with a dry cloth.  You can hang the tutu to dry.

☆ Most of my tutus are embellished and you need to be careful when cleaning not to remove or displace the embellishments.  Many of the embellishments can also be cleaned with a damp cloth.  There are certain embellishments I would avoid cleaning, such as the spider webs, feathers, letters/numbers, and certain flowers.  If you have questions about what you can and shouldn't spot clean just ask and I can help!

☆ If you have a steamer, you can focus the steamer on the spot you need clean and dab with a dry cloth. The steam will help break up what is causing the stain and you can use the cloth to wipe it off the tutu.  Again, please use caution not to remove any embellishments or hurt your hands.

Don't worry!  That's not real blood!

One final tip:
☆ The more you play with your tutu, the more it will fluff.  So have fun while wearing it!  Do some twirls and jumps!!

Please let me know if you have any other questions about caring for your tutu.  I hope this helps to make your tutu photo-ready!  Have fun while wearing it!

Life's a party; wear a tutu!
Lots of Love,
Janelle
